Direct Line blocked my claim after sewer issue
Earlier this year my sewer was blocked and i also made a claim on my Direct Line house auto insurance policy, which provides as much as 2,000 to mend the pipe “between the chief sewer as well as your home when it is blocked”.
However, Direct Line refused to spend and instead referred me towards a section included in the fine print entitled accidental damage, which includes an exclusion saying it doesn’t purchase damage the result of faulty design, workmanship or materials.
It says in such a case it’s not necessarily liable since the pipe was laid across an uncovered septic tank, and it is refusing to perform the repair. ES, Billericay
We weren’t quite sure how Direct Line could argue that the blockage appeared as the result of faulty design or workmanship, since existing tank and pipes had worked without problem for longer than Decade. Had you recently had the task done, that might are an alternative matter, also it would have quite reasonably declined your claim C however you say you hadn’t.
Fortunately, the insurer has gotten an alternate research your case and he has agreed that it was a lttle bit hasty. It says the decision to repudiate the claim scaled like a strict use of the insurance policy exclusion which is designed to ensure contractors repair any faulty work that was recently carried out.
“Having reviewed so intimately, we currently feel its reasonable to assume ES isn’t aware about simple fact there were an actual problem with the septic tank. Therefore, were willing to say we will be processing the claim. By means of an apology, in addition to being a gesture of goodwill, we’ll be sending ES a good for 200,” a spokeswoman says, which is actually a very reasonably priced offer.
