Samsung Issues Worldwide Recall of Galaxy Note 7 Smartphones

In respond to reports of cellphones exploding or catching fire while charging, Samsung has issued an immense worldwide recall of newest product, the Galaxy Note 7, on Sept. 2, 2016. This recall comes just weeks after the smartphone’s Aug. 19 launch.
Since launching the smartphone, Samsung who has sold more than A million Note 7s to date and promises to have produced 2.5 million additional phones. However, the quantity of potentially at-risk phones is unknown. At the time of Sept. 1, 2016, Samsung has confirmed 35 consumer reports of Note 7s exploding or catching fire.
Upon further investigation of customer reports, Samsung found out that a battery pack cell produced by among its two suppliers was why it’s happening. Because company cannot identify exactly which phones may endanger users, they’ve already halted production, suspended sales and often will replace all Galaxy Note 7s cost-free to customers who already own it, inspite of the purchase date.
However, Samsung estimated that it’ll take about two weeks to prep to swap out all Galaxy Note 7s thorough phones, and noted that this date services is going to be available will change based on country. Samsung is in discussion with carriers about how the recall process is going to be handled.
At the same time, Samsung advises customers who can be concerned about their batteries to consult the closest Samsung service center. Additionally, Samsung recommends that customers never charge their phones overnight which customers use original equipment manufacturer (OEM) chargers.
